UNC Charlotte Hosts UNC System Finance Conference

Staff in Business Affairs planned, managed and executed the 35th Annual UNC System Finance Conference, held at the UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel & Conference Center March 13-15. The conference was attended by almost 400 staff members with finance-related roles from across the state.

“Now more than ever, we seem to be working in an age of virtual meetings, but, having the opportunity to host the first in-person UNC System Finance Conference since the pandemic began in 2020 presented a unique opportunity for our team to show off our University, provide a diverse set of professional development opportunities, and promote an environment of networking with colleagues across the system through social events,” said Amy Hisler, controller and planning committee member. “While it was a massive undertaking for both the planning committee and our team of volunteers, I believe UNC Charlotte was able to meet or exceed all of our internal expectations for hosting the event while continuing to perform our day-to-day tasks without skipping a beat.”

The conference is hosted by a rotating list of UNC System schools. This was Charlotte’s fourth time hosting, a rotation that has occurred about every ten years.

“I am so proud of the herculean effort my staff and others across campus put into hosting this incredible conference, with support from other campuses and the System Office,” said Anne Brown, associate vice chancellor for Financial Services. “I am excited we had this opportunity to network and learn from colleagues at Charlotte, other System universities, and System and state offices. It was a great chance to showcase our wonderful Marriott Hotel & Conference Center, and demonstrate our hospitality and Niner pride.”

The 2024 UNC System Finance Conference will be hosted by UNC Wilmington March 11-13, 2024.
