Murphy Named Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Business Services

Bonnie Murphy will join UNC Charlotte as interim vice chancellor for business services effective Jan. 4, 2022.

In this role, she will oversee the overall administration and strategic leadership for campus food services (meal plans, retail dining, catering, concessions and convenience stores), bookstores and other campus retail operations, reprographic services, vending and ATMs, mail and package services, licensing and trademark management, 49er ID card services, and parking and transportation services. She succeeds Rich Steele, who was recently named interim associate vice chancellor for facilities management, and reports directly to the vice chancellor for business affairs.

“Bonnie is a seasoned professional with nearly two decades of leadership in business affairs in higher education,” said Interim Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs Larry Kelley.

“An innovative manager, Bonnie has a record of strong service and vision, which have enhanced the customer experience for internal and external stakeholders at several campuses.”

Murphy comes to Charlotte from Howard University where she was assistant vice president for auxiliary enterprises. She also served as associate vice president for auxiliaries at the University of Toledo, associate vice president of commercial services and executive director at California Polytechnic State University and director of auxiliary enterprises at Georgia State University. Additionally, she has experience in commercial real estate with CB Richard Ellis and the PM Realty Group and was an account executive at the Wood Company.

A graduate of Oglethorpe University, Murphy completed an MBA from Mercer University.
