Summer activity ideas from your business affairs colleagues

We asked, you answered. With summer coming into full swing, you submitted some of your favorite activities for warmer weather. Take a look through and be inspired to give one of these a try.

“I am enthusiastically anticipating a three-week trip to Scotland with my daughter, Emily, that was originally planned for the summer of 2020,” said Anne Brown, associate vice chancellor for finance. “We will be traveling across the Highlands including Fort William and the train to Mallaig, Isle of Mull and Iona, Dunalastair Estate in Pitlochry, Balvenie Distillery on our way to Buckie, and Roth Ach of Avoch. Sounds dreamy, doesn’t it?”

Some people love more physical activities.

“My passion is biking adventures and biking up and down Miami beach, from South beach to Sunny Isles,” said Paul Jonathan, resident district manager of Chartwells. “On weekends my bike and I go on new adventures. I look forward to exploring Charlotte — firstly around UNC Charlotte’s trails.”

Speaking of beaches, a family beach trip is always a winner.

“This family can spend night and day on the beach in the summer,” said Antoinette Layton.

Rachel Pierson-Bonin, talent acquisition consultant, also includes spending time with her family.

“My favorite summer activity is spending time on the lake, boating and kayaking,” said Pierson-Bonin.

Katie Turner, director of marketing, loves visiting her hometown in Florida.

“My favorite thing to do in the summer is visit my parents in my hometown of Naples, F.L.. Since my husband works at the University too, I take my vacation time in the summer when he isn’t teaching. Since it’s a long drive down there, we usually stop to see my in-laws in St. Augustine. We also build in an extra day to stop at a new Florida attraction that we haven’t been to before. One of my favorites was going to Bok Tower Garden, a large singing tower surrounded by orange groves situated atop the highest point in Florida. Another year we kayaked on the Estero River with dolphins. I also look forward to visiting the beach and Naples pier.”

Hopefully this gives you some fun and exciting ideas to try this summer! Thank you to all the business affairs employees who contributed.
